CAROLINE NJUKI, PH.D
Associate Professor for Global Missions
Caroline is an expert in international development involved in program design and ABCD in Uganda, Malawi and Palestine through WorldHope Corps; and formerly as an assistant general secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. She is Associate Professor of Global Ministry and teaches global perspectives in Faith Based Community Development. Born in Uganda, educated in the USA (Ph.D. in international relations), member of UMC in New York, and long career in Global Ministries of UMC.
Academic and Professional Profile
Dr. Caroline Njuki is a distinguished expert in international development and relief, currently serving as Program Faculty and Associate Professor for Global Ministries at Northwind Seminary and Northwind Institute since 2022. In her role as a Faculty Mentor for Global Missions, she bridges academic rigor with decades of field-based leadership to empower the next generation of ministry leaders.
Dr. Njuki’s work focuses on Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) and program design. She is actively involved in transformative initiatives across Uganda, Malawi, and Palestine through WorldHope Corps. Born in Uganda and educated in the USA, she earned her Ph.D. in International Relations, a foundation she uses to teach global perspectives in community transformation.
A dedicated member of the United Methodist Church in New York, Dr. Njuki brings a wealth of multicultural experience to her teaching. She immigrated to the USA from Uganda in 1971 and has spent her career advocating for social innovation and international relief.

Before joining Northwind, Dr. Njuki held several high-level leadership positions at the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) of The United Methodist Church, including:

Assistant General Secretary for Health and Relief
Executive Secretary for World Hunger and Poverty
Education and Background
Master of Arts in Intercultural Conflict Management: Confirmed from Alice Salomon Hochschule (ASH) Berlin, Germany. She attended as a KAAD scholar from 2006 to 2008, focusing on social innovation and displacement policy.
Bachelor of Arts in History and Religion: Earned from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya.
Ph.D. in International Relations completed in the United States, providing the academic foundation for her extensive leadership roles within the United Methodist Church and her current teaching at Northwind Seminary.

Dr. Njuki serves as a program faculty mentor within the Faith-Based Community Development (FBCD) degree concentrations. Her 2026 course offerings include:
Global Perspectives on Faith-Based Community Development (FBCD): An exploration of international development models and global missiological frameworks.
Theology and Practice of SHALOM (Co-instructor): A collaborative course focusing on the holistic biblical concept of Shalom as a foundation for neighborhood revitalization.
Specialized Skills in FBCD (Co-instructor): A practical course designed to equip students with the technical skills needed for program design and community engagement.
