Leroy Thompson, D.Min

Dean of Student Learning


Professor of Pastoral Theology and Ministry

Dr. Leroy W. Thompson is an ordained minister of the Gospel with ordination in the Independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ and the American Baptist Churches, USA.  His background includes 30 years in local ministry and 20 years in Christian higher education.


Leroy currently serves in dual roles at Northwind Theological Seminary and Institute.  He is the Program Coordinator of the Ordination Courses in the Northwind Institute.  In the Seminary, he serves as Dean of Student Learning and Professor of Pastoral Theology & Ministry,


In his previous higher education ministry, from 2004 to 2023, Leroy led in various capacities, including: Chief Operations Officer, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Admissions, Interim Vice President of Development, Director of the Center for Christian Ministry, and Chair of the Christian Ministry degree program. Bacone College was affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA, and has a historical educational mission with native people.


During his Bacone years, Dr. Thompson organized and led numerous academic lectureships, Presidential Leadership Summits, planned chapel services, and directed the Praise Team, Gospel Choir, and Worship Arts Team.


Thompson is a licensed pastoral counselor (advanced) with the National Christian Counselors Association and used the Arno Profile extensively in his work at Bacone College.


Leroy and his wife, Virginia, are members of Boulevard Christian Church, where Leroy serves as a teacher.  Virginia is the Registrar at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK, after serving in that same capacity for 17 years at Bacone College.
