John Lim

Visiting Faculty

Rev. John LIM was born in a Buddhist family in Singapore. He received Jesus as his personal Savior on 24 Dec 1989. He was baptised in water in June 1991. He answered God’s call to the ministry in 1992 after his mandatory national military service and enrolled in AG Bible College, Singapore (now ACTS College). He was involved principally in missions from 1993-95 at Elim Christian Centre, Bacolod City, Philippines.


He was sent to Accra, Ghana from 1998-2004 to assist a Christian pioneering work among the Ghanian Twi people.
He went on to start the first Chinese church in Ghana in 2001 and assisted in the start of an international church. He is happily married to Rebecca Lim-Koh, who was involved with the church planting effort in Ghana.


John and Rebecca are presently pastoring Elim Protestant Evangelical Church in Paris, which they founded in the heart of Chinatown. They are reaching a cross-cultural community of French, Mandarin and English speakers. John was the first French – Chinese speaking chaplain in the French prison system from 2012 -2018, helping prisoners with their spiritual needs and providing translation and administration needs.


He was also the first French – Chinese speaking Hospital chaplain of the French hospital system (AP-HP – Assistance Public Hopitaux de Paris) since 2016 and helps care for patients in the Henri-Mondor Hospital Group (Hospital CHU Henri Mondor, Hospital Emile Roux, Hospital Dupuytren, Hospital George Clemenceau), Centre Intercommunal de Créteil (CHIC) and Hospital St Joseph. John oversees the radio program “Chaplaincy in Hospital ” at the French Protestant Radio station “Frequence Protestante” since 2021.


John is part of the official translation team of Institut Théologique Américain de Paris , for course translations from English to French. He is also a visiting faculty member of  the Center for Innovation in Global Theology and Ministry (CIGTM) at Northwind Seminary since 2020, tasked with teaching in ethics and contemporary health care issues as they relate to both theology and ministry matters.


John is a consultant to the Denomination Union des Eglises Chretiennes en France (UECF -CNEF) in the National Congress of Evangelical Churches in France , and is an ordained minister in affiliation with the Assemblies of God (AOG) Singapore, the Union des Assemblées Protestants en Mission (UAPM -FPF) in the French Protestant Federation in France, and an associate Minister with Alliance International Ministry (AIM) USA.


John has a bachelor’s degree in theology from AGBC Singapore (now ACTS College). He has a national diplôme universitaire (DU.VEA) with CFTP (University of Strasbourg) in chaplaincy, as well as a diplôme universitaire (DU. RnR) on “religious and secular law” with the law faculty of Jean Monnet (University of Paris 11). John earned a M.Phil. in medical humanities and ethics in 2020 (University of Créteil – part of the University of Paris 12), with special attention to multicultural bio-medical approaches to patient care which takes into account spiritual care. John is currently enrolled in a joint Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program through ACTS College ,Singapore and Asia-Pacific Theological Seminary, Philippines.
