COURSE OVERVIEW
The creative arts—visual art, literature, poetry, music, architecture, and film—are underappreciated tools for personal spiritual development. Since we normally think of the spiritual disciplines that help us develop in our faith journey in terms of direct spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, scripture study, fasting, etc., many of us have neglected to conceive of how the arts might be used to guide and inspire us along our spiritual path. The foundation of this course is the belief that the arts can be the basis for spiritual practices or as an accompaniment to the classical disciplines of the spiritual life.
